Hello, Darlington Softball families! It’s time to dust off the cleats, grab your gloves, and join us for a day filled with fun, festivities, and softball as we kick off the 2024 season in style. This year marks a monumental 45 years of fostering teamwork, building skills, and creating lifelong memories on the field. We’re rolling out the green carpet for our players, coaches, and the entire Darlington community to celebrate the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable season.
A Day to Remember
Opening Day is more than just the start of the season; it’s a celebration of our community, our players, and the game that brings us all together. We can’t wait to see you at Slater Park on April 20th, cheering on our young athletes, enjoying the festivities, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Opening Day Agenda – Here’s What’s Happening:
Morning Assembly
- 10:00 AM: Players and coaches, it’s time to gather at Daggett Farm! Our dedicated board members will be there to help get everyone organized and ready for the day’s activities.
Parade of Champions
- 10:30 AM: Led by a shining fire engine, our parade will start at Daggett Farm. We’ll take a left out of the parking lot and head to the field in a procession that celebrates our young athletes. It’s a sight you won’t want to miss, so make sure to line up along the route to cheer your players on!
The Main Event: Opening Ceremony
- 10:45 AM: As we gather on the field, the National Anthem will play to signal the start of our opening ceremony. This is a moment of pride and joy, featuring speeches, acknowledgments, and the much-anticipated ceremonial first pitch. It’s a time to celebrate not just the start of a season, but the spirit of community and the love of the game.
Let the Games Begin
After the ceremony, we dive straight into the heart of softball: Skills-based competitions! Each team will showcase your skills in hitting, base running relays, and throwing contests and vie for a chance at some great prizes! Don’t worry, the rules will be clearly explained by our coaches and seasoned travel players. While not on the field or taking player photos, teams will have their Team Fun Time, where players can enjoy the concession stand, face painting booth, balloons, and more!
